The Municipal Chief Executive for Kwabibirem Municipality in the Eastern Region, Emmanuel Kofi NTI has held a meeting with the Small Scale Miners’ Association in the Municipality with the aim of ensuring proper mining activity in the Area.
During his address to the association, he argued that many miners have left their mining site without reclaiming the Land, a situation he labels a bad habit. Again he warned that no manner of person will be allowed to mine around or in water bodies nor Forest reserve.
He assure them of creating a good environment for them to work in a responsible way.
The Kade NDC constituency Chairman Godfred Bonsu who represented the government on mining added NDC government will not collapse their jobs rather it will ensure proper mining in Ghana.
He promised to assist in securing them Mining licenses in prescribe areas in the constituency.
He warned all the Miner’s to stay away from working in the river bodies and forest reserve because the MCE is ready to ensure legal and responsible mining.
The Chairman of Small Scale Miner’s Association, Kwasi Sekyi Senior also expressed the association’s gratitude to the MCE for recognizing them as an association. He assured the MCE that they will ensure all members are adhering to the lay down rules and responsible mining.
He advise all Miner’s in the municipality to join the association and to make sure they do responsible mining without destroying water bodies and forest reserves.
