The Kofi Annan International Peacekeeping Centre (KAIPTC) has held a roundtable discussion on the security situation in Ghana and the West African Sub-Region on Wednesday 14 August, 2024 at Teshie.

The forum involved Ghana’s Minister for National Security, Hon. Albert Kan-Dapaah, Minister for Defence, Hon. Dominic Nitiwul, Minister for the Interior, Hon. Henry Quartey, the Head of a Nordic Delegation, and other key officials.

The deliberations focused on peace operations, stabilisation, and peacebuilding in the West African Sub-region.

In his opening remarks, the Commandant of KAIPTC, Major General Richard Addo Gyane, acknowledged the Nordic partners, highlighting their role as a bastion of hope and reassurance since the centre’s inception as a training centre of excellence in peace and security.

Major General Gyane emphasised KAIPTC’s unwavering commitment to promoting peace, security, and stability in the region, underscoring the centre’s diverse operations that have been made possible by the generous and consistent contributions of Nordic partners.

He acknowledged the crucial support from these partners, including core and earmarked funding, which has enabled KAIPTC to carry out critical work in West Africa and the Sahel, particularly in peace operations, stabilisation, and peacebuilding, as well as advancements in peace and security technology.
