Philanthropist and businessman Nana Kwame Bediako, popularly known as Cheddar, has donated GH¢50,000 to support traders affected by the recent devastating fire at the Kantamanto market in Accra.

The fire, which broke out earlier this week, destroyed numerous shops, leaving traders with significant financial losses and emotional distress.

Many of the victims have been left without their primary source of income, as the inferno reduced goods worth thousands of Ghana cedis to ashes.

Cheddar’s donation aims to provide immediate relief to the traders as they navigate the aftermath of the tragedy. During the donation ceremony, the businessman expressed his heartfelt condolences to those affected and urged others to contribute to the recovery efforts.

“Kantamanto is a hub of economic activity, and the traders here are vital to the livelihoods of many families. It’s our responsibility to stand by them during this challenging time,” Cheddar remarked.

The donation has been well-received by the traders, who expressed their gratitude for the timely intervention. According to leaders of the market association, the funds will be used to support traders in restarting their businesses and addressing urgent needs.

Local authorities have pledged to investigate the cause of the fire and implement measures to prevent similar incidents in the future. In the meantime, appeals for assistance continue as the traders work toward rebuilding their lives.
