Kasoa Ofankor Circuit Court, presided over by Her Worship Linda Amissah, has sentenced two men to four years in prison for exhuming the body of a 10-year-old boy at Adawukwa in the Awutu Senya West District.
The convicts, identified as Fofo Agboyemeh and Kwame Agboyemeh, were caught in possession of the body after allegedly digging it up from the Adawukwa cemetery near Awutu Bawjiase.
Their actions sparked public outrage, leading to their apprehension by some commercial motorcycle riders (okada riders) at Ashalaja around 1 a.m. following a tip-off.
A mob attacked the suspects, severely injuring them before the Denkyira Police arrived to rescue them. The two were subsequently taken into custody at the Awutu Bawjiase Police Command but had to be transferred to the Bawjiase Polyclinic for medical treatment due to the severity of their injuries.
Investigations revealed that the suspects exhumed the body just three days after it was buried.
After their recovery, they were processed for court, where the Kasoa Ofankor Circuit Court found them guilty and handed them a four-year prison sentence each.
