Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, former Member of Parliament for Assin Central and a prominent New Patriotic Party (NPP) member, has called on the party’s national executives to grant unconditional amnesty to all suspended members, including Paul Afoko and Alan Kyerematen.
Speaking at the NPP’s National Thank You Tour in Takoradi, Agyapong emphasized the need for unity following the party’s poor performance in the 2024 elections.
He attributed the defeat partly to the alienation of key figures and their supporters, stressing that reconciliation is crucial to rebuilding the NPP’s strength.
In a rare display of calmness, Agyapong apologized to anyone who may have been offended and urged members to put aside personal preferences and rivalries from the 2024 elections.
He emphasized the importance of forming a united front to recapture power. Agyapong’s plea for amnesty and unity highlights the party’s internal challenges and the need for healing and reconciliation.
His comments have sparked hope for a more cohesive and inclusive approach within the NPP.
