The Ghana Chamber of Mines has appointed Ing. Dr Kenneth Ashigbey as its new Chief Executive Officer (CEO), effective June 1, 2025.

Subsequently, the Chamber has announced Ahmed Dasana Nantogmah as its first-ever Chief Operating Officer (COO), marking a significant leadership shift aimed at driving innovation, operational excellence, and sustainable growth across Ghana’s mining sector.

Dr Ashigbey, a seasoned executive with an extensive background in media, telecommunications, engineering, and infrastructure, steps into the role following his recent resignation as CEO of the Ghana Telecoms Chamber.

His mandate at the Chamber of Mines includes shaping strategic direction, strengthening stakeholder engagement, and advocating for policy reforms to boost the competitiveness and sustainability of Ghana’s mining industry.

Commenting on his appointment, Dr Ashigbey stated, “It’s an honour to serve an industry that remains vital to Ghana’s economic development. I look forward to working closely with members, government, and civil society to ensure the mining sector thrives sustainably and inclusively.”

Mr Ahmed Nantogmah, who assumes the newly established role of COO, brings a strong foundation in mining policy and corporate affairs. He will be responsible for overseeing the Chamber’s day-to-day operations and ensuring seamless execution of strategic initiatives. His appointment reflects the Chamber’s intensified focus on internal efficiency and organizational resilience.

“The appointment of Ing. Kenneth Ashigbey and Ahmed Nantogmah heralds a new chapter for the Chamber,” said Mr Michael Edem Akafia, Esq., President of the Ghana Chamber of Mines. “Their combined expertise, leadership, and vision will be instrumental in navigating the dynamic landscape of the mining industry and advancing the interests of our members and the nation.”

The Chamber reaffirmed its commitment to responsible mining practices, aligning with global standards and reinforcing its role as a key contributor to Ghana’s national development.
