The Director of Communication for Speak Your Mind Movement, Kennedy Addo-Sunu has appealed to the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Mr. James Oppong-Boanuh to pick up Assin Central MP, Kennedy Agyapong over threat on Luv Fm journalist.

His statement comes after the Speaker of Parliament, Alban Bagbin, referred Kennedy Agyapong to the Privileges Committee for threatening to beat and kill a Multimedia Group [Luv Fm] journalist.

The Assin Central MP confessed to stating that he would have had him beaten if he was president of the country but did not mention death as one of the ways the situation could be dealt with.

Reacting to the threat comments by Assin Central MP, the Director of Communication for Speak Your Mind Movement made reference to the 1992 constitution as the supreme law of the land.

He added that it is an offence punishable by law to cause fear and panic and to threaten somebody’s life.

Meanwhile, the Ashanti Regional Police Command says it has commenced investigations into the alleged threats on the life of Erastus Asare Donkor by Kennedy Agyapong.

A statement issued by the Police Command, signed by Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCOP) David Agyeman Adjem, and copied the Ghana News Agency (GNA) in Kumasi, said: “the petition is receiving attention.”

The alleged threat “is being investigated by the Regional Crime Officer and any further developments will be communicated,” the statement noted.

The police said they had resolved to protect every person in the Region, stressing that the authorities remained committed to this course.

THE ASSIN CENTRAL MP. HON KENNEDY OHENE AGYAPONG MUST BE ARRESTED.

The 1992 constitution is emphatic on the fact that nobody is above the law in this country and for that matter it is the supreme law of the land. It is an offence punishable by law to cause fear and panic and to threaten somebody’s life.

Is it true that in Ghana some people are untouchable? IGP, is it true? Is Kennedy Ohene Agyapong bigger than the supreme law of the land? Unbelievable!

We should always cherish and protect individuals who put Ghana First. Unfortunately, this is not so. Today, Anas Aremeyaw Anas has become a wanted person to foolish and senseless people because of his good work. This is strange.

We were in this country when Kennedy Agyapong on Net 2 TV showed a photo of the undervover Journalist Ahmed Hussein Suale, disclosed his residence and added that anyone who sees him should beat him and hit him with weapons and that he was ready to pay. Not long after, Ahmed Suale was murdered by an unknown gunmen. Till date, Kennedy Agyapong has not been arrested. Why? If it were to be an ordinary man on the street, the police will be racing after him like lions.
The MP said he was in a British Airways Flight with a police officer who first informed him about one suspect in the murder of Ahmed Suale. Mr Agyapong said the police asked him not to put the name out and that he should be patient.
Mr Agyapong insisted that it has been over 5 months adding that he can’t wait any longer but to drop the name.

In his recent tirade against the police, Mr Agyapong claimed to have given the police photos of one Eric Ansu Gyeabour (the suspect) who is very much known to the Ashanti Regional police but they continue to do nothing. IGP, we are disappointed in you. Why is Kennedy Agyapong moving about freely and not assisting in arresting the killers of Ahmed Suale.

While the Ahmed Suale’s murder issue remains unresolved , one would have least expected Kennedy Ohene Agyapong to go down the same route of making inciteful comments against another journalist Erastus Asare Donkor of Luv FM.

On July 9,2021 the same Kennedy Agyapong on Net 2 tv said among other things that Erastus Asare Donkor of Kumasi based Luv fm should be beaten mercilessly for the manner in which he covered recent disturbances in Ejura.

Have the police heard about these threats? What have they done about it? Are we waiting till the unfortunate happens again? What is wrong with the law enforcement agencies in Ghana?

Mr Agyapong’s threats on journalists is however not restricted to only these two personalities
Manasseh Azure Awuni published the ”contracts for Sale” documentary that implicated and resulted in the removal from office of the CEO of The Public Procurement Authority, Mr Adjenim Boateng Adjei.

This was a good work done. These individuals are helping to do away with corruption and must be supported. Again, this disgraceful MP had issues with this journalist.

The Assin Central MP must be arrested now. The police would be quick to arrest other people for issuing similar threats. Is Ghana for Kennedy Agyapong?, is he bigger than Ghana.

Does he feed some top notch in the security agencies? If not, why is he not being brought to order. Kennedy Agyapong is a serious disgrace to the parliament of Ghana and to his constituents. Who even appointed him as the Chairman of the Defence and Interior Committee of Parliament?

James Oppong Boanuh must be a statesman rather than this exhibition of serious ignorance and political gimmicks, and redeem the image of the Ghana police Service by arresting Kennedy Agyapong.

Asking him to appear before the privileges Committee of Parliament is not enough. Arrest him.
