Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, former Member of Parliament for Assin Central, has officially declared his intention to contest the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) presidential primaries ahead of the 2028 general elections.
In a statement released on Monday, July 29, Agyapong announced:
“Now that nominations have been opened, I will be contesting for the New Patriotic Party’s 2028 Presidential Primaries.”
He expressed deep appreciation for the overwhelming support he has received nationwide—from party loyalists, professionals, young people, and even fellow parliamentarians, some of whom have offered to personally fund his nomination form.
Framing his ambition as a collective mission rather than a personal pursuit, Agyapong pledged to rise above partisanship and foster national unity.
“Together, we will build a Ghana where every citizen has a fair shot at success. I am ready to listen, to serve, and to lead with integrity and purpose,” he stated.
The announcement also coincided with a personal milestone—a birthday message to his Communications Director and General Manager of Kencity Group, Lawyer Kwaku Amoh-Darteh.
“Coincidentally, today also marks the birthday of the General Manager of the Kencity Group and my Communications Director, Lawyer Kwaku Amoh-Darteh. I take this opportunity to wish him a very happy birthday and thank him and every member of the team for the incredible work you continue to do,” Agyapong added.
Agyapong’s official entry into the race marks a significant moment in the early build-up to the NPP’s 2028 flagbearer selection.
