The governing National Democratic Congress has established a committee to investigate allegations of vote-buying that marred its Ayawaso East primary held on Saturday, February 7.

This decision follows the Party’s earlier announcement to constitute a committee to look into reports of widespread inducement and vote-buying during the aforementioned parliamentary primary.

The party has tasked the three-member Committee with conducting a thorough investigation and submitting its report by Tuesday, February 10, 2026.

The Committee will comprise Mr. Kofi Totobi Quakyi as Chairperson, with Hon. Mahama Ayariga and lawyer Emefa Fugah serving as members.

The statement issued by the party said “In line with the Party’s commitment to internal democracy, transparency, and ethical political conduct, the Committee will investigate the allegations and make appropriate recommendations, including sanctions where necessary. The Committee’s mandate will also include making recommendations on sustainable measures and reforms to decisively end the practice of inducement and vote buying in the Party’s internal electoral processes”.

The party said it remains committed in upholding the highest standard of integrity.

“The Party wishes to assure its rank and file, stakeholders, and the general public that it remains committed to upholding the highest standards of integrity in its internal electoral processes. Members and supporters are therefore urged to remain calm as the Committee undertakes its work.”
