Doctors at the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital have suspended their strike following an agreement with management over tensions at the hospital’s Central Laboratory.

The decision was announced by the Korle Bu Doctors Association (KODA) in a notice dated Monday, May 4, 2026, and comes hours after doctors had withdrawn all Out-Patient Department (OPD) services.

According to the Association, the suspension follows a meeting with hospital management and assurances aimed at resolving the ongoing issues between Laboratory Physicians and Medical Laboratory Scientists.

KODA said the intervention was necessary to ensure laboratory physicians are able to return to their duties and that cooperation within the Central Laboratory is restored.

The Association stressed that peaceful collaboration between both professional groups is essential for quality healthcare delivery at the facility.

Following the decision, KODA has instructed its members to resume Out-Patient services from Tuesday, May 5, 2026.

The development brings relief to patients at the facility, after the earlier strike action had disrupted OPD services due to unresolved disagreements over laboratory operations and professional roles within the hospital.

KODA added that it remains committed to ensuring patient safety and maintaining high professional standards within Korle Bu Teaching Hospital.
