The Nursing Directorate of Korle Bu Teaching Hospital has commenced an orientation program for 575 newly recruited nurses and midwives.
The initiative is designed to equip the new staff with the knowledge and skills required to provide high-quality patient care.
The comprehensive training covered essential topics, including the hospital’s history, organizational structure, infection prevention protocols, professional ethics, job descriptions, appraisal processes, and procedures for ward handovers.
Speaking during the program, Deputy Chief Nursing Officer of Infection Prevention Control, Akofa Gaituah, emphasized the importance of adhering to strict infection prevention measures.
She highlighted best practices such as frequent handwashing and proper waste disposal and introduced the “Catch, Bin, and Kill” technique to curb the spread of infections.
The orientation was widely regarded as a success, with participants gaining valuable insights into their roles and responsibilities.
This initiative underscores Korle Bu’s commitment to fostering a professional and competent healthcare workforce.
