Kumasi Asante Kotoko defender, Mohammed Nurudeen has terminated his contract with the club to pursue a career in nursing.

The 31-year-old joined the Porcupine Warriors last season on a two-year contract, however according to reports, the defender has been been released by the club after only a year citing issues of unsuccessful attempts to secure a permanent transfer for him to Kumasi.

According to the club, Nurudeen also has a contract with the Ghana Health Service as a practicing adding that all possible options were explored to convince the defender to focus on football but yielded no positive results.

“Management notes that Nurudeen also has a contract with the Ghana Health Service as a practicing enrolled nurse. The club explored all possible options to convince him to focus on his football career, but Nurudeen remained committed to his career in nursing,” a statement from Kotoko revealed.

The statement further noted that, “an emergency meeting was convened on Sunday, August 4, 2024, where the Interim Management Committee (IMC) agreed to part ways with the player in the best interest of both parties and to maintain the cohesion the team is building for the new season.”

Meanwhile Mohammed Nurudeen, has expressed his dedication to his medical career.

Kotoko will face Karela United in their first game of the 2024/25 season scheduled to resume in September.
