The Ghana Police Service (GPS) has launched an investigation into a shooting incident in Kumasi that injured a police officer.
This investigation follows chaos during the NDC Enough is Enough demonstration in Kumasi on Tuesday, September 17, where protesters clashed with police.
In a statement signed by Assistant Commissioner of Police Grace Ansah-Akrofi, Director of Public Affairs, it was noted that the demonstration was successful across all 16 regions, with the exception of Kumasi.
“The demonstration ended peacefully in all locations, except for an isolated incident in Kumasi. There, contrary to the arrangements agreed upon between the police and the organizers, demonstrators attempted to breach the premises of the Electoral Commission and pelted police with stones,” ACP Ansah-Akrofi stated.
She also expressed gratitude to all stakeholders, including the organizers, demonstrators, the Electoral Commission, the media, and the commuting public for their cooperation throughout the event.
“The Inspector-General of Police and the entire leadership of the Police Service would like to express their profound gratitude to all police officers across the country for their continuous patriotic dedication and commitment to security, law, and order in our beloved country,” she added.
