The Founder of Tech in Ghana, Akosua Annobil, has announced that the next edition of the renowned Tech in Ghana conference will take place in Kumasi in 2025.
Dubbed the “Royal Edition,” the event is set to highlight the vibrant tech ecosystem in the Ashanti Region and Kumasi’s growing role in Ghana’s technological advancement.
The conference will showcase Kumasi’s potential as a hub for innovation, spotlighting projects in areas such as mining, manufacturing, and city infrastructure under the Ashanti Investment Trust (AIT). These initiatives, supported by local stakeholders and traditional authorities, aim to position Kumasi as a key player in the nation’s tech agenda.
Speaking at the conclusion of the 2024 Tech in Ghana event in Accra, Lawyer Evans Amoah-Nyamekye, Special Advisor on the AIT Initiative, emphasized the importance of expanding the national tech conversation beyond Accra. “Why not Kumasi? Let’s embrace this opportunity and make every part of Ghana great,” he remarked.
The conference will also feature Kumasi’s ambitious 45,000-acre “new city” project, along with advancements in digital infrastructure, eco-friendly housing solutions, and smart city developments.
Key figures in Ghana’s tech landscape have expressed excitement about the event. Gideon Brefo, CEO of hapaSpace, described it as a significant opportunity for Kumasi’s entrepreneurs, innovators, and businesses to gain exposure and build partnerships.
“This is a big moment for Kumasi,” Brefo said. “It’s about creating opportunities, celebrating local talent, and showing the world that Kumasi is integral to Ghana’s tech ecosystem.”
Government officials and industry leaders also shared their perspectives. Nana Adjoa Adobea Khartey, Secretary at the National Communications Authority, highlighted initiatives like the Girls in ICT project, which has trained over 150,000 young women in digital skills. “The conference will shine a light on how technology is transforming lives across Ghana,” she noted.
Innovators such as Emelia Djani, CEO of Uncontained Spaces, plan to showcase sustainable housing solutions like eco-friendly container homes, while Dr. Laud Anthony Basing, CEO of Incas Diagnostics, praised Kumasi’s dynamic tech scene and its role in nurturing startups.
The 2025 Tech in Ghana conference promises to attract participants from across Ghana and the diaspora, celebrating innovation, culture, and progress. Organizers are confident that the event will place Kumasi firmly on the global tech map and inspire other regions to drive Ghana’s technological growth.
