Captain Smart, host of Onua FM’s morning show, is facing intense backlash from the Chiefs of Kwahu for spreading unfounded allegations about the area.
The Chiefs have accused Captain Smart of spreading fear and panic with his comments, which suggested that Kwahu was on the brink of chaos.
According to Daasebre Akuamoah Boateng III, the Kwahuhene, Captain Smart’s allegations were particularly egregious, claiming that innocent citizens were being butchered with chainsaws in the area. Kwahuhene went on to assure revellers that this year’s Easter celebrations will be peaceful, and there’s no cause for alarm as suggested by the fear monger of a journalist.
The timing of this incident is particularly sensitive, as it coincides with the upcoming Easter celebrations, which are a significant boost to the local economy. The Chiefs were concerned that Captain Smart’s comments could have a negative impact on the festivities, affecting the economic activities that typically surge during this period.
This is not the first time Captain Smart has been under fire. He was recently criticised for his alleged role in inciting illegal miners to invade the AngloGold Ashanti mine in Obuasi, resulting in the deaths of nine miners. The National Media Commission (NMC) condemned his comments, stating that they threatened peace and security.
The Chiefs of Kwahu have questioned Captain Smart’s motives, wondering why he would make such inflammatory statements. They have called for him to be held accountable for his actions, which they believe are a threat to peace and stability in the region.
