District Chief Executive (DCE) for Kwahu East in the Eastern Region, Samuel Asamoah has paid a working visit to Ankomah – Kwahu to inspect the collapsed Ankomah Bridge, a vital linkage between the farming communities of Ankomah and Oframase.

The collapse of the bridge has had a disparaging impact on the residents, particularly school children who uses the structure to commute between the two communities.

Long-Standing Issue

The Ankomah Bridge has been in a deplorable condition for many years, with little to no attention from successive governments. Its collapse poses a serious risk to residents, who have been forced to find alternative and often dangerous routes to access essential services, markets, and schools.

The local authorities have been compelled to restrict access to the bridge entirely due to the increasing danger it poses.

DCE’s Commitment to Action

During his visit, Hon. Asamoah assured the community that steps would be taken to address the long-standing issue.

The Honorable Chief Executive further explained that the district assembly would collaborate with other government agencies and stakeholders to secure the funding and resources needed to reconstruct or repair the bridge.

He emphasized the importance of restoring the bridge to facilitate safe and easy movement of people and goods between the two communities.

Mr. Asamoah went on to say that under his oversight, they will make sure that their efforts are directed by the needs and concerns of the residents and will update the community on their progress and schedules.

The DCE’s commitment to action has brought hope to the residents of Ankomah and Oframase, who have been advocating for a solution to this problem for years. With Hon. Asamoah’s assurance, the community is optimistic that a lasting solution will be found to restore the bridge and improve their quality of life.
