Member of Parliament for Mpraeso, Davis Ansah Opoku, has underscored the significance of the Kwahu Easter Celebration, describing it as a national tourism asset that does not only promotes Ghanaian culture but also supports livelihoods in the region.
Reading a statement in Parliament, Opoku touted the festival’s potential to drive economic growth, citing its impact on local businesses and communities.
The MP lamented that poor road infrastructure remains a major hindrance to tourism development in areas like Adorso, Esubone, Nketepa, and Amatey, which boast attractive river falls, forest environments, distinctive rock formations, and other natural attractions with strong potential for eco-tourism and heritage tourism.
“Without reliable roads, these assets cannot be effectively developed or marketed,” he stressed.
Mr. Opoku urged the government to prioritise the upgrading of roads in the region to facilitate year-round tourism, stimulate local enterprise, create jobs, and enhance market access for farmers and small businesses.
He noted that improving infrastructure would support the government’s broader objectives of regional development and domestic tourism promotion.
To showcase the festival’s cultural vibrancy and tourism potential, Hon. Opoku extended an invitation to Parliamentarians to attend the Kwahu Easter festival. “Such engagement will reinforce Parliament’s appreciation of tourism as a viable instrument for national development,” he said.
