The Presbyterian University, Ghana (PUG), has formally inducted 1,830 fresh students into various academic programs in a matriculation ceremony held at the university’s headquarters in Abetifi-Kwahu on Friday, March 14.

Speaking at the event, Vice Chancellor Prof. John Ofosu Anim described the occasion as the beginning of a transformational academic journey for the new students.

“I stand before you today with great pride and joy as we gather to celebrate the matriculation of our newest members to this esteemed institution,” Prof. Anim stated.

The matriculation ceremony encompassed all five campuses of the university: Abetifi-Kwahu (Headquarters), Tema, Akuapem-Akropong, and Agogo. Addressing the students, Prof. Anim emphasized that the ceremony was more than just an enrollment process but a significant milestone marking their commitment to higher learning.

“Today is not just about enrollment or registration; it’s about embracing the profound responsibilities and opportunities that come with being a part of this academic family. Matriculation is a symbolic rite of passage, signaling your official entry into the academic life of our university,” he noted.

Prof. Anim urged the students to embrace discipline, hard work, and intellectual curiosity, underscoring that their journey at PUG was not only about acquiring knowledge but also about shaping their character and aspirations.

“You are now part of a community that values curiosity, critical thinking, and the relentless pursuit of excellence. Our institution has a rich history of fostering intellectual growth and producing individuals who have gone on to make significant contributions to their respective fields,” he said.

He encouraged students to engage in campus life beyond academics, participate in extracurricular activities, and take advantage of the university’s resources and faculty mentorship. He also reminded them that challenges are inevitable but serve as stepping stones for growth and success.

PUG offers a diverse range of undergraduate programs, including BSc Accounting and Finance, BSc Banking and Finance, BSc Human Resource Management, BSc General Management, BSc Marketing, BSc Agribusiness, BSc Information and Communication Technology, and BSc Computer Engineering.

The matriculation ceremony marks the official commencement of academic activities for the newly admitted students, reinforcing the university’s commitment to academic excellence and holistic student development.
