The Member of Parliament for Abetifi constituency, Hon. Bryan Acheampong has indicated that a Rapid Response Police Warfare Jungle base will be set up in the Kwahu block to aid and ward off security threats and criminal activities in the area.

The lawmaker, Mr Bryan Acheampong made the revelation when he was delivering a speech at the Inauguration and handing over of a newly constructed Circuit Court Complex by the Nkosuohene of Nkwatia, Nana Owiredu Wadie I, on Friday, December 16, 2022.

The former National Security Minister in charge of the Presidency established that the setting up of the Jungle Warfare Base as an idea is to quickly as a matter of urgency deal with any security issues which will not wait on the deployment of security forces from the Eastern Regional capital, Koforidua.

“Nana Nkwatia Hene, Nana Kwahu Adonteng Hene, what we see here reflects what an individual can do, and I’ve said it, that it takes an individual to do what’s going on here. Therefore let’s focus, we Kwahus, on building individuals that have talents and support those who can; when they do it in their own minds or in a big way as we see it today, cumulatively, our community shall be developed.

Kwahu is on course to securing its peace and security. As you’re aware, the Eastern-North region of the Ghana Police Service has just been created. Indeed, we worked, we lobbied for it. It was our prayer that the name will be changed to Kwahu region just as they have the Tema region for the Police service, it’s part of our agenda and we believe that the way in which our development is going, Kwahu will become a region very soon.

We’re hoping that the service in naming the Eastern-North region will just name it Kwahu region so we move on with our lives but they started with Eastern-North Region. we thank them and we’ll work on it to ensure that the name is changed to Kwahu region because the jurisdiction of the Eastern-North region covers only Kwahu.

From Jejeti, the boundaries of the Akyems to the boundaries of the Ashantis and covers Afram Plains, without more, no other communities border the Eastern-North region, and therefore, we’re encouraging the IGP and the Police Management Board to do the right thing, the earlier the better for all of us. DAMPARE the IGP is from the area, and when he goes on retirement, he’d come here and if it has not been changed, we’ll have a long conversation.

A new division has been created, now based in Nkwatia – Kwahu. Last week I had a conversation with the IGP and we’re going to set up what we call the Rapid Response Unit Warfare Jungle Base. As we speak, the guys are on the ground looking for a suitable area where we can set up a 300-Man power unit for the police force to be based here so that if there’s any criminal activity going on, we don’t have to bring in forces from Koforidua to deal with it so that our men based here will quickly face it.

As part of our broader Kwahu Agenda, in the next three years, we’re going to refurbish all the courts, Nkawkaw, Mpraeso and then Abetifi to make sure that, in terms of peace and security, we’ve checked those boxes”, said the MP.
