Kwahu West MCE cuts sod for major community-based projects

The Municipal Chief Executive for Kwahu West, Mr. Tamimu Halidu has cut sod for the construction of rural projects in selected communities under the Kwahu West Municipality.

Among the projects are fifteen (15) mechanized boreholes for communities like Kotiasi, a small town water system for Fodoa Community Day SHS and the main Fodoa township and additional small town water system for Kokompe.

Other ancillary projects are a new KG block for Kokompe Presby Basic School. The new KG block for Kokompe Basic School will have a sick bay, toilet and a rest-room for the kids to replace the existing dilapidated structure. A mechanized borehole will also be constructed for the school to ease the overreliance on community boreholes.


A new KG block will also be constructed for Salvation Basic School which will come with toilet, sick bay, rest room and a mechanized borehole.

A whole new school edifice will be constructed for residents at Nanchia, starting from KG, primary and junior high school level. The new school will also have teachers quarters and a school park.


The MCE in addition, cut sod for the construction of an Ambulance Service office along the Nkawkaw Highway to address accident emergency challenges. He said, next year, a clinic will be added to the Ambulance Service office which will serve as first aid center.

The MCE indicated that, beginning next week, inner roads within the Kwahu West Municipality will be patched to give facelift to the Municipality.

Mr. Tamimu further added that, his office will partner private firms to undertake major infrastructural projects in the Municipality, including the establishment of a public cemetery for Nkawkaw. He said, through IGF, Fodoa- Kwahu and Kokompe will have zonal councils in their jurisdictions.

The contractors are Adwenpa Engineering Limited will undertake 7 water drilling projects in two months and 2K contractor will be in charge of small water systems to undertake the project in Fodoa and Kokompe. The projects, apart from the schools are expected to be completed in two months.


He stated that the Nkawkaw DVLA will be built an office complex to ease the pressure it currently faces to unavailability of an official office for the company.

The Chief of Fodoa commended the John Mahama-led administration for undertaking such a localized initiative to improve the lives of persons living in rural communities.

He called on the government and the MCE to convert Fodoa’s Community Day SHS to a fully-fledged Boarding school to help alleviate the increasing spate of teenage pregnancies within the school and the community.

He requested the MCE to support the lighting system in Fodoa and its environs to curb the rate of darkness that engulfs areas in the community.  On electricity, Nana Adu Asante urged the MCE to, on behalf of the community replace the existing Transformer due to its incapability of sharing load to homes in the area, which usually fluctuates power supply.

Mr. Tamimu stated that his office has formally written to the Regional Coordinating Council to support flooding issues in Kwahu West, specifically, the new station area, which is capital intensive project. He has reaffirmed the John Mahama-led administration’s commitment to safeguarding and ensuring development in every parts of the country.
