After nearly three weeks of operations without a vehicle, the Nkawkaw Ambulance service has received a new vehicle to boost their services.
The provision of the new vehicle follows almost a month after the stationed-vehicle got involved in an accident while en route Abirem for a CT scan with a patient.
According to the Municipal Chief Executive for Kwahu West, Tamimu Halidu, his assessment established that the Ambulance vehicle was beyond repairs after the gory accident.
Due to its emergency services, the MCE noted that his office used all the available protocols to request a replacement for the Municipality, having almost 200,000 population.
“Our vision is to strengthen health delivery in Kwahu West. On October 11, I received a call from the Ambulance Service Command with regards to their vehicle which got in an accident in Abirem. We went there on October 12 and we noticed that the vehicle was beyond repairs.
Through their Regional command, on 23rd October, we requested for a replacement. We demanded for two but, upon the emergency purposes of it, we were told to be given one for interim. The service command in Nkawkaw informed me last week that it has received the new Ambulance we requested for, so today, we’re handing it over to the command for their continuous service for the Municipality. We’re grateful to the government and the urgency it saw in replacement of the Ambulance vehicle”, the MCE said.
Dumenu Charles Selorm, the Nkawkaw Ambulance Service Commander, expressed his gratitude to the authorities for the provision of a new vehicle.
“We’ve been given another opportunity to serve the people of Nkawkaw and its environs after our vehicle got involved in an accident. We’re highly grateful to the MCE and his team”, he added.
The MCE, few months after assuming office, is building a complete Ambulance Service Command center with a CHIP compound to address accidents cases along the Accra-Kumasi Highway. His administration has pledged commitment to supporting the government’s community-based development policies.
