The Kwahu West Municipal Assembly under the leadership of, Mr. Tamimu Halidu has embarked on 1-day community engagement in the Kwahu West Municipality.

The engagement was aimed at establishing a cordial, strong and communicated bond between the people and the staff of the Assembly to erroneously assess and address the issues bothering the communities in the municipality.

The MCE, Mr. Halidu, on his part, pledged the government’s readiness to supporting community-based development.

Some of the residents at Wisiwisi community complained to the MCE of unemployment.

The MCE, also charged the residents to partake in the government s social intervention programs such as the National Apprenticeship Programme, NEIP programs and the ‘Nkoko nketenkete’ initiative.

He said, the government is ready to support social programs to curb the rising number of youth unemployment in the country.

A resident, Yaw Asare courted the support of the MCE to complete a community-self-initiated clinic in the community. Another resident also called for the extension of electricity.

Mr. Tamimu indicated that the Assembly will facilitate the provision of 100 electricity poles in its 2026 budget and distribute to communities that would be needing energy extension.

Another resident spoke about illegal mining also known as Galamsey. Wisiwisi has now become a haven for illegal mining activities. The MCE stated that the govt does not oppose mining but rather, illegal mining and destroying of water bodies.

The residents also called for the expansion of community boreholes.

A similar process occurred at Wawase, where the MCE interacted with the chief and elders and the community folks.

He assured that, all issues put before the Assembly will be addressed.
Some residents demanded speed ramps to ease over speeding. The community also demanded toilet for Wawase Methodist primary school and new KG block.

Additionally, traditional leaders insisted on the electricity extension at Wawase and the need to provide additional boreholes.

On his part, the Presiding member of the Kwahu West, Emmanuel Kofi Bamfo, implored the people to be more conversant with their various Assembly members as a matter of urgency to present their grievances in order to be resolved concurrently.

The MCE, Mr. Tamimu Halidu during an interview, stated the government of President John Dramani Mahama remains committed to ensuring that basic essentials are provided for persons living in rural areas to ease their movement and to provide a boost in microeconomic activities in such areas.

He affirmed that there cannot be developments without the support and involvement of the people.

He made known that it is mandatory as required by law for MMDCEs appointed by the President to occasionally meet with the people they represent, and assess their views and grievances.

“Today, we’re here to engage with the community as it is required of me as and when necessary, occasionally, tour communities surviving under the Kwahu West Municipality. We have lots of communities under Kwahu West and I must visit all these areas. We want to be able to visit all these communities before the year ends.

President Mahama’s motive is to make sure that all his appointees are visiting the people they’re representing. We are here to know what is happening among the people because you cannot sit in your office and assume everything is fine. The government of President Mahama is committed to giving Ghanaians the best of social and economic development“, the MCE said.

Mr. Halidu further called on the traditional authority to hold on to their powers as the custodians of the land and assist the government in making sure there is Law and Order.

The engagement saw a visit to four communities including Esaase, Abepotia, Wisiwisi and Wawase converged at their various community Square to meet and engage the MCE and his entourage from the Assembly.
