The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Kwahu West, Mr. Tamimu Halidu, has called on beneficiaries of the government’s Nkoko Nkitinkiti poultry programme to take proper care of the chicks distributed to them to ensure the programme’s success.
In an interview with press men, the MCE stressed the importance of providing adequate feed, appropriate housing, and the necessary medication for the chicks to thrive and meet the objectives of the initiative, which is being implemented by the Ministry of Food and Agriculture.
He made the appeal during the distribution of 10,000 chicks across the municipality, with each selected beneficiaries numbering 200 households.
According to the MCE, the long-term sustainability of the programme largely depends on the commitment and management practices of the beneficiaries.
However, the Municipal Director for Agric, Francis Dogbase explained that the Nkoko Nkitinkiti initiative is part of the government’s wider “Feed Ghana” programme aimed at revitalizing the poultry industry and reducing Ghana’s dependence on imported poultry products.
