Renowned Ghanaian political figure and musician Kwame Asare Obeng, popularly known as A-Plus, has revealed that both the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and the National Democratic Congress (NDC) are actively seeking his alignment in Parliament.
In a Facebook statement, A-Plus disclosed that the NPP, led by Hon. Kennedy Agyapong, has officially approached him with a proposal that includes a significant promise: they will refrain from contesting the Gomoa Central parliamentary seat in the 2028 elections. According to A-Plus, this offer is part of a broader negotiation aimed at securing his collaboration in Parliament.
Meanwhile, the NDC has also reached out, with a scheduled meeting set for tomorrow, January 7 at 8 a.m. While expressing a personal inclination toward the NDC, A-Plus emphasized that his final decision would prioritize the interests of both himself and the people of Gomoa Central.
“I have friends in both the NDC and NPP, but they must understand that I will have to disappoint someone tomorrow,” he stated. “Deep down, my heart leans toward the NDC, but I will ultimately side with whoever has my interest at heart and provides the best offer for me and the people of Gomoa Central.”
This development has sparked speculation about A-Plus’s potential influence in Parliament and its impact on the political dynamics in the Gomoa Central constituency.
Both parties are reportedly intensifying their efforts to secure his allegiance, underscoring the high stakes involved in this political decision.
As the clock ticks down to tomorrow’s meeting with the NDC, the political landscape in Gomoa Central hangs in the balance, awaiting A-Plus’s verdict.
However, the General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Justin Kodua Frimpong, has refuted the claim, stating:
“The NPP has neither held any meeting with A-Plus nor authorized anyone to communicate with him on the party’s behalf.”
