A District Court at the Domestic Violence and Victim’s Support Unit (DOVVSU) in Accra has granted GH¢50,000 bail with two sureties to a 45-year-old French teacher of the Labone Senior High School, Godwin Adigbli, who is facing a charge of indecent assault for allegedly molesting a 16-year-old female student.
The court ordered that the sureties be justified and directed the accused to report to the Cantonments Police Station every two weeks until the final determination of the case. The prosecution has also been instructed to file all disclosures before the next hearing, scheduled for December 10, 2025.
Appearing before the court on Wednesday, October 22, 2025, Mr. Adigbli pleaded not guilty to the charge. His lawyer, Ernest Gbesemete, prayed for bail, arguing that the accused had cooperated with investigators and had already been on Police enquiry bail prior to the court appearance.
The prosecution, however, did not oppose the bail application but requested that the accused continue to report to the Police regularly to assist with ongoing investigations.
According to the prosecution’s brief facts, the accused allegedly inserted his fingers into the private parts of the victim and kissed her in the school’s French laboratory on August 28, 2025. The incident was later reported to the school authorities and the victim’s guardians, leading to the teacher’s arrest on September 1, 2025.
The case has been adjourned to December 10, 2025, for continuation.
