In Tanzania, a landlord was publicly punished and fined for engaging in an illicit affair with his tenant’s second wife. The incident occurred at Kibwera village in the Geita district of the country’s Geita province.
According to a report by Millard Ayo, Katayo Bote was subjected to public caning and fined over KSh 11,000. Emmanuel Ndalawa, Katayo’s tenant who has two wives, discovered that his second and younger wife had been getting too close to the landlord since they moved into his house.
Ndalawa, who lives with his two wives, caught his lover and Katayo in her room getting intimate. The village chairman, Simion Kisinza, confirmed the incident and stated that it was reported to the village’s leadership, who decided to punish Katayo to serve as a deterrent to others.
Katayo was known for sleeping with other men’s wives, and the residents could no longer tolerate his immoral conduct.
