The Lands Commission is set to revolutionize land administration services in Ghana with the commissioning of its new ultra-modern head office.
The eight-story facility, inaugurated on Monday by Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, is designed to enhance efficiency, transparency, and customer service through digitization.
Speaking at the event in Accra, Dr. Bawumia described the facility as a major step toward transforming the land sector.
“This modern facility represents our commitment to building an efficient, transparent, and customer-centered land administration system,” he stated.
He emphasized the government’s three-pronged approach over the past eight years: providing modern infrastructure, digitizing processes, and empowering a skilled workforce.
The new office is equipped with advanced digital tools to streamline services, including automated land title certificates to improve accuracy and reduce errors.
“Land is vital to Ghana’s economy, with 90% of livelihoods directly or indirectly dependent on it. A robust land administration system is essential for sustainable economic growth and social cohesion,” Dr. Bawumia noted.
Minister for Lands and Natural Resources, Samuel A. Jinapor, praised the project, calling it a testament to the government’s commitment to efficient land management.
He highlighted additional infrastructural upgrades, including regional and district office projects across the country.
The Executive Secretary of the Lands Commission, Surv. Benjamin Arthur, described the facility as a milestone in advancing land administration.
He outlined plans for a five-year transformation project starting in 2025, focusing on creating a national digital map, a robust land information system, and automating services.
This landmark project aims to streamline land administration, reduce disputes, and promote economic growth.
