The first-choice goalkeeper of Ghana Premier League club, Legon Cities, has sadly passed away.
The club announced the passing away of the 26-year-old yesterday evening, via social media.
Sackey has been with the club for the past four seasons and has been the first choice for the past two seasons.
“It is with a heavy heart that we sadly announce the passing of our goalkeeper, Sylvester Sackey. Sackey has been with us the last four seasons and was our first choice goalkeeper for a greater part of the last two seasons,” the club wrote on Twitter.
“His demise is a big blow to everyone associated with the club. Our hearts & thoughts are with the bereaved family at this very difficult time. The club is in touch with the family of Sylvester & will communicate our next course of action in the coming days.”
The cause of his death was however, not announced.
