The General Overseer of the Four-Square Gospel Church in Ghana, Rev. Francis Sey has called on all Ghanaians especially Christians to rally behind President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo to build Ghana a cathedral as promised.

According to him, the President must be applauded for the idea to build a national cathedral because Ghana has overcome tense elections where in other countries it would have been war all because of the God factor, so it is not out of place for the nation to have a cathedral.

Speaking exclusively to Republic Press, Rev Sey said the Four-Square Gospel Church support and would support the cathedral agenda because it will strengthen the relationship between the faith base originations and the government.

He said “if you look at the impact and influence these faith base organisations have had in the country in terms of schools, jobs, hospitals and the likes, it is therefore not bad at this material time for the nation to build a cathedral to honour God.”

“So if we will have this cathedral that serve as an embodiment in our faith in Jesus Christ and as a symbol of national unity, I think that will be the best thing that will happen to this country.”

Priorities

On the issue of whether the cathedral is one of the priorities of the country, he said Jesus told his followers, “The poor you will always have among you, I mean the roads that were constructed 10 years ago would have been deteriorated, we would have to do it again, the schools, hospitals built five years ago we would have to work on them again, all these things are everyday needs but the cathedral is a one-time project.”

Rev Sey said Ghana cannot quantify the influence and the impact of the Peace Council and other faith base organizations leading the charge towards the peace and unity the nation has enjoyed all these years so if the government wants to enhance the relationship of these two parties to further forge development, then it is in the right direction.\

Impact of the church

Commenting on the impacts of faith base organizations, the Man of God said those who are condemning the building of the cathedral may not entirely know the impact of Christianity in African, “do you know that this educational system as we have it was introduce by the Presbyterian Church of Ghana.”

‘It was the Presbyterian church that introduced the teaching curriculum that looks at the hand, hearts, our faith and minds and we take it for granted because it is over a hundred years,” he revealed.

“Even if you look at the world as a whole, the influence of Christianity cannot be discounted and many nations have recognized it because if you go to Russia, we have the St Peter’s Cathedral, the United State, all of them have it so what stop Ghana from having it because all of them know the impact Christianity have had on their nation,” he stated.

On contribution

He said the government has done it part of making a land available for the project, so the call for GH¢100.00 contribution towards the realization was neither a levy or tax and so Christians must rally behind it and contribute their quota to support the building project.

“This is for us Christians so I am using this opportunity to appeal to all Christians out even my church members Four Square Gospel Church let us contribute and make this reality that come 2024, March 6, we will have this national cathedral that would symbolize the impact, influence and the positive contribution that Christianity had made in the country.”

“Let contribute to the *979# and leave a legacy that would be enviable for the future generation to follow that at one point in time, this nation stood for God and for Christ,” Rev Sey stated.

Impact of Four-Square Gospel Church in Ghana

He urged all believers to demonstrate love for each other and also exhibit tolerance.

Established in 1974, is an active member of GPCC and a Bible based church which place much emphasis on Christian character. It members are making impact in the economy and they can be trusted with integrity.
