The Group Chief Commercial Officer of MTN Ghana, Selorm Adadevoh, has advised Africans to uphold technology rather than selling their birthright to people in the Western world.

He addressed this challenge facing Africans during a panel discussion on the topic, harnessing technology innovation as a frontline for economic growth on the second day of the African Prosperity Dialogue at Peduase Presidential Lodge on January 26, 2024.

According to him, the state of Africa’s technology is way behind and this is an extreme problem.

This is because, the natives, are not ready to change their mindset on the perception that everything good comes from the West however, it will take time before Africans will get there.

Speaking on the topic, the Strategic Partnership Lead for Africa Microsoft, Angela Kyerematen-Jimoh, disclosed that, for the continent to be at the forefront of driving technology for economic growth, we need a clear digital roadmap, digital reforms as well as the right regulatory frameworks guiding the transfer of technology.

“ As we look at creating one single market for Africa, we have to make sure that different countries and governments are working together on the framework making sure that they are connecting on the framework, making sure whatever they come up with in one country is transferable or adhered to in other country, making sure that they are adhering to the reform benchmarks and also making sure that we have a digital road map in place”, she said.
