Embattled Kumawood actor Kwadwo Nkansah, popularly known as Lilwin, has successfully convinced actress Martha Ankomah to settle her GH¢5 million defamation suit out of court after agreeing to terms of settlement.

The breakthrough came on Tuesday, February 25, 2025, after initial negotiations collapsed in open court.

Both parties are now expected to file the terms of settlement and return to court on April 1, 2025, for it to be adopted as a consent judgment by Justice Forson Baah Agyepong.

Legal Battle Over Settlement Amount

During Tuesday’s hearing, Lilwin’s legal team initially proposed a GH¢150,000 settlement, including GH¢50,000 in legal fees.

However, Martha Ankomah’s lawyers flatly rejected the offer, calling it an “eyesore”.

“We have been chasing the defendant for settlement,” Ankomah’s lawyer, Nii Applatu Plange, told the court.

“My learned friend (Lilwin’s counsel) only called on Saturday to propose something, and what they proposed was an eyesore.”

Lilwin’s legal counsel defended the offer, calling it “reasonable”, adding that they were acting in good faith as Christians, especially with Easter approaching.

Justice Baah Forson Agyepong, the presiding judge who had previously urged both parties to settle the matter amicably, appeared visibly frustrated by the stalled negotiations.

“I won’t talk again. I have advised both parties enough,” he stated.

As the legal teams remained at an impasse, Lilwin’s manager intervened, whispering a new offer of GH¢200,000 (including legal fees) into his lawyer’s ear.

This led to further deliberations in open court, followed by a private discussion in chambers without the judge.

Final Agreement Reached

After nearly two hours of closed-door discussions, both parties reached a final agreement. They then informed the judge that they had settled the matter and would return on April 1, 2025, for the court to formally adopt the settlement.

With the agreement in place, the highly publicized legal battle between Lilwin and Martha Ankomah appears to have come to a peaceful resolution.
