Liverpool forward Diogo Jota has died in a car crash in Spain
The car left the road due to a tyre blow out while overtaking another car, local police say
His brother, Andre Felipe, also died in the crash
Jota, 28, was a Portuguese international and a key part of the Liverpool side that won the Premier League last season

We can now bring you the full statement from the Guardia Civil, given verbally, confirming the deaths of Diogo Jota and his brother, Andre Silva:
“The information we have so far is that the car, which was a Lamborghini, was in a road traffic accident and left the road due to a tyre blowout while overtaking.
“It was in the early hours, 00:30 BST, in the municipality of Cernadilla in the province of Zamora.
“The car caught on fire and the two occupants were killed.”
When asked to confirm the identities of those involved in the accident, the Guardia Civil said: “The player and his brother, Andre Silva.”
The fatal car crash that killed Diogo Jota and his brother, Andre Felipe, took place less than two weeks after his wedding day.
Jota married his wife, Rute Cardoso, on 22 June 2025.
In a post shared on the couple’s social media, the pair wrote: “Yes, forever.”
