Africa is been recognized as a place of no hope for its citizens. A place of injustice and a severe dictatorship by its leaders.
Today, we look at some of the African Presidents who has seized power and held on for ages .
Number one on our list is Teodore Obiang.
Teodoro Obiang is Equatorial Guinea’s President. He has been in office for the last 43 years. He assumed office in 1979.
His son, Teodoro Nguema Obiang Mangue has been his Vice President since 2012.
He seized power from his uncle, Francisco Macías Nguema who ruled the country from 1968 to 1979. He was the country’s first President.

Paul Biya is Cameroon’s president. Mr. Biya has been in office since 1982. He has been the president for last 40 years. He was the Prime Minister of Cameroon from 1975 to 1982.

Yoweri Museveni is Uganda’s longest serving leader. He has been in office for a period of 36 years. He assumed office in 1986.

Isaias Afwerki, Eritrea’s leader has been serving in office for the last 29 years. He has been the country’s leader since 1993.

Dennis Sassou is Congo’s president. Mr. Dennis has been in office for 25 years now. He has been in office since 1997. He was also the President of Congo from 1979 to 1992.

Ismail Omar Guelleh is Djibouti’s president. Mr. Omar has held on to power for the last 23 years. He has been in power since 1999.
He took over from his uncle, Hassan Gouled Aptidon who was the country’s first President and who ruled from 1977 to 1999.
