The Accra High Court has halted plans for the funeral of the late musician Daddy Lumba, which was originally scheduled for December 13, following an injunction obtained by his maternal family. The family approached the court to challenge the arrangements for the funeral.
As a result of the injunction:
Funeral organizers are not allowed to continue preparations.
The mortuary cannot release the body to anyone.
No actions related to the funeral can proceed until the court concludes hearings and delivers a final ruling.
Prior to the court ruling, preparations were already underway at the Baba Yara Stadium, the designated venue for the funeral, where canopies and platforms had been set up. However, all these activities have now been put on hold.
In short, the funeral is temporarily suspended, and Daddy Lumba’s body will remain at the mortuary until the legal matters surrounding the case are resolved.
