Prior to this appointment, Mr Kanor served as Officer in Charge of Port Operations, where he oversaw critical customs functions including the enforcement of customs laws, revenue collection, and trade facilitation.

A statement issued by the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) described Mr Kanor as an accomplished professional with over three decades of distinguished service in revenue mobilisation, border security, and trade facilitation.

Throughout his tenure, he has demonstrated a wealth of experience, strategic insight, and a steadfast dedication to public service, the GRA said.

“His appointment as Ag. Commissioner of the Customs Division reflects a career defined by integrity, operational excellence, and strategic leadership. His leadership has contributed significantly to strengthening border security systems and enhancing compliance within Ghana’s international trade environment,” the statement read.

The newly appointed senior customs officer has held several key leadership positions across the country. His previous roles include serving as sector commander at the Kotoka International Airport and Wa Collections, as well as holding the rank of chief revenue officer in multiple operational areas.

According to the GRA statement, Mr Kanor spearheaded intelligence-led operations that curtailed smuggling, uncovered invoice falsification schemes, and disrupted criminal syndicates involved in vehicle identification manipulation.

The statement added, “These efforts resulted in improved revenue performance and strengthened national security.”

Beyond enforcement, Mr Kanor has played an instrumental role in advancing modernisation initiatives within the Customs Division. He has been at the forefront of electronic valuation systems and strategic projects designed to improve operational efficiency and reduce cargo clearance turnaround times. His work has been vital in aligning Ghana’s customs administration with international best practices and facilitating legitimate trade.
