President John Dramani Mahama has commissioned the Sahara LPG Vessel as part of his visit to the People’s Republic of Korea, describing the development as a significant step toward strengthening Ghana’s energy infrastructure and advancing the country’s transition to cleaner energy sources.
Speaking at the commissioning ceremony, the President noted that the event represented more than a symbolic milestone, emphasizing its importance in enhancing the infrastructure that supports the global supply chain of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG).
According to him, improving energy access while transitioning to cleaner energy sources remains one of the defining challenges of the modern era, with LPG continuing to play a critical role in that transition.
President Mahama also highlighted the importance of strong partnerships in delivering large-scale energy projects, explaining that the vessel represents the impact of strategic collaboration and forward-looking investments aimed at improving energy security.
He added that Ghana, like many countries across the region, recognizes the transformative potential of LPG in supporting socio-economic development while expanding access to cleaner and more sustainable energy solutions across West Africa and the wider African continent.
