President John Mahama has signed the new Ghana Investment Promotion Authority (GIPA) Act into law, replacing the former Ghana Investment Promotion Centre Act.
The new legislation is aimed at strengthening Ghana’s position as a leading investment destination in Africa and beyond by simplifying investment processes, reducing bureaucratic bottlenecks, and making it easier for investors to establish and operate businesses in the country.
The Act introduces measures to enhance investor protection by strengthening the legal framework and providing greater confidence and security for both local and foreign investors.
It also seeks to improve the institutional capacity of the Ghana Investment Promotion Authority by expanding its mandate to effectively promote, facilitate, and monitor investment activities across the country.
Beyond attracting foreign investment, the new law places emphasis on supporting local enterprises by empowering Ghanaian businesses to grow, scale up, and participate more meaningfully in the investment ecosystem.
The government believes the legislation will create a more competitive investment environment and contribute to sustainable economic growth.
