The West African Gas Pipeline Company Ltd. (WAPCo) has announced that it has completed approximately 70% of the maintenance work on its 569-kilometre offshore pipeline from Nigeria to Ghana.
This was disclosed by the General Manager of Corporate Affairs, Isaac Doku, during a media tour of the company’s Tema branch on Thursday.
Isaac Doku revealed that contractors are working around the clock to ensure the completion of the project before the scheduled deadline of March 2, 2025.
According to Mr Doku, the maintenance work is progressing steadily, and the company is confident that it will meet the deadline.
The four-week cleaning and maintenance operation, which began on February 5, 2025, was to ensure the optimal functioning of the pipeline.
He insisted that the maintenance work has not completely disrupted gas supply to thermal plants in Tema from Nigeria, as well as gas transportation via reverse flow from Takoradi to Tema.
Isaac Doku assured the public that WAPCo is on track to meet its deadline and ensure the continued reliable supply of gas to its customers.
