I found it disgusting and highly pathetic to hear the President of our land demoralise teachers when he met with leadership of GNAT.
The President comment “I don’t know anywhere in the world that people going to teaching is expected to be millionaires and make money………if you want to do that you do other things.”
This unfortunate statement will deter young ones to become teachers and it will go a long way to have future consequences on the educational sector.
Unequivocally, Teachers are not to be poor but rich.
Elsewhere in other countries as compared to by the President, Teachers are well paid and offered better conditions of service hence teachers are rich.
It is only people who have no respect for the profession who think teaching is just a service but not a profession to become rich.
Let me challenge the President today to offer conditions of service given to teachers in other countries in the world to teachers in Ghana and see if Ghanaian teachers will not be millionaires.
Indeed, if this is the thought of the President about the teaching profession then I understand why teachers in Ghana are always crying.
No! A teacher, naturally, is rich but not poor.
Government insensitivity has made us look “poor”
May God’s riches come upon teachers 🙏
