Patients admitted at the Mpasaaso No. 1 Health Centre, in the Ahafo Ano South West District of the Ashanti Region have described as unhealthy sleeping in the same ward with the opposite sex.

Males, females and children on admission for various health conditions are being put in the same ward as a result of inadequate space.

Patients on admission described the situation as worrying as they [males and females] are compelled to look at each others’ nakedness when undressing.

Confirming the disgusting situation, Hon. Louis Otuo Acheampong, Assembly member of the area said, the same ward at the health facility also serves as the children’s wards when sick children in the farming community are admitted.

He alleged that what is so pathetic is the fact that the Member of Parliament (MP) for Ahafo Ano South West, Hon. Johnson Kwaku Adu although pledged to support the facility but has refused to honour the promise.

On his part to respond to the claims against him by the assembly member of the area, Hon. Johnson Kwaku Adu refuted the allegations that he has turned deaf ears to the development of the community not to even talk about the health center.

He disclosed that, efforts are in the pipeline to re-occupy the facility with metal beds adding that Seven (7) were requested from him by the health practitioners there and has made arrangements for three to be given to the facility immediately whiles the remaining are at the wielding shop for completion and delivery.
