Beatrice Owarewa Siaw, a member of the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) Council of Patrons and an aspiring parliamentary candidate for Mampong, has died.
Ms Siaw, popularly known as “Nana Yaa,” reportedly died at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) in Kumasi, according to a source close to her.
Nana Yaa was preparing to contest the Asante Mampong parliamentary seat on the NPP ticket and was a prominent businesswoman and philanthropist with a strong interest in the development of the constituency.
Her demise has been confirmed, although the circumstances surrounding her death have not yet been disclosed.
The family is reportedly appealing for privacy as they make preparations towards an official announcement.
Before her death, Nana Yaa had been actively campaigning ahead of the NPP parliamentary contest in Asante Mampong. She had outlined an ambitious vision for the constituency, focusing on industrialisation, job creation and youth empowerment.
She had also claimed to have invested more than GH¢40 billion into the Asante Mampong Constituency, describing the investment as part of her commitment to the development and economic transformation of the area.
Her sudden death is expected to come as a shock to her supporters, constituents and members of the NPP who had followed her political journey and aspirations.
