Mamprugu Youth Association urges immediate security action in Binduri

The Mamprugu Youth Association (MAYA) has issued an urgent call to the Regional Security Council (REGSEC) and the Ministry of Interior, demanding immediate action to curb escalating violence in the Binduri District.

The youth group expressed deep concern over a series of targeted attacks that have resulted in the deaths of over twelve (12) people in just February and March 2025, without significant intervention from security authorities.

In a press release dated March 24, 2025, MAYA condemned the inaction of security agencies, warning that continued neglect could lead to further loss of lives.

The association highlighted a disturbing pattern of violence in the district, particularly against Mamprusis and security personnel. Key incidents include:

MAYA has urged REGSEC and the Interior Ministry to impose a ban on motorbike riding and enforce a curfew in the district as an immediate response to the rising insecurity. The group further warned that if another attack occurs, it would consider REGSEC and the Ministry of Interior complicit in what they describe as a deliberate attempt to eliminate Mamprusis from the district.

The youth group is calling on the government and security agencies to act swiftly and decisively to restore law and order in Binduri and protect civilians and security personnel from further violence.
