An Accra Circuit Court has sentenced a 26-year-old man to 180 days imprisonment for defiling a 10-year-old girl.
The accused, Emmanuel Mbachu was found guilty by the court on the charge of indecent assault.
According to the prosecution led by Superintendent of Police Agnes Boafo, the complainant was a businessman residing in Accra.
The convict, Emmanuel Mbachu is believed to reside in the same house with the victim at Korle-Gonno also in Accra.
The prosecution further indicated that on January 29, 2023, the complainant who is the victim’s uncle came to visit the victim’s father but did not meet him or the victim in the house.
The victim’s father then asked the complainant to check on the victim’s whereabouts since she was not in the house.
The complainant then proceeded to ask some children who were playing around if they had seen the victim and they said they saw her entering Mbachu’s room.
The prosecution said that the complainant went to knock on Mbachu’s door but there was no response.
The victim’s uncle knocked again after some time and Mbachu opened the door. The accused was then asked if he saw the victim.
Mbachu quickly went back inside and brought the victim.
Upon questioning the victim as to what she was doing in Mbachu’s room, she said Mbachu had fondled her breast and asked her to suck his manhood.
The complainant then reported the case to the Korle-Bu Police station where the case was referred to the Domestic Violence and Victim’s Support Unit at Mamprobi.
