The Ghana Police service in collaboration with the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Authority (DVLA) have arrested a 40-year-old man allegedly involved in issuing of fake driver’s license and roadworthy certificate.
The suspect who has been identified as Philip Oteng Owusu Ansah is said to be engaging in this illegal activity from his residence.
The arrest forms part of the DVLA’s nationwide exercise to arrest persons who engage in providing fake vehicle documents.
In a statement by the DVLA, personnel from the Underground Squad of the National Operations Unit of the Police service conducted a search in his residence and retrieved some items such as blank cards, ribbons, Eminence card printing machine, hard drives containing specimens of holograms for both roadworthy certificates and license used in the unlawful act.
According to the statement, Philip is currently assisting police with investigation.
The DVLA however seized the opportunity to caution the general public to be wary of individuals who claim to be officials of DVLA and offer assistance in processing vehicle documents.
The Authority further warned individuals who engage in the illegal act to immediately put a stop to it as it begins a nationwide swoop to arrest and prosecute offenders.
