Police in the Akwatia District of the Eastern South Region have arrested Stephen Nkansah, 36, for unlawful possession of firearms.
The arrest occurred on Saturday, August 23, 2025, around 2:00 p.m., when a police team on snap check duty at Staff Village, Boadua, intercepted a Toyota Tundra pickup with registration number WR 5535-13. The vehicle, carrying five mourners, was heading from Asamankese toward Boadua.
A search of the pickup uncovered three pump-action guns—a Pardus pump-action, a Hulglu Atroe pump-action, and another unidentified pump-action firearm.

Nkansah admitted ownership of two of the weapons and claimed the third belonged to his chief.
He explained to police that they were traveling to a funeral at Akim Takyiman when they were stopped at the checkpoint.
The suspect has been detained at the Akwatia Police Station as investigations continue.
