The Ashanti Regional Police Command has confirmed the arrest of a man captured in a viral video wearing a police uniform without lawful authority.
Identified as Osei Kwame, popularly known as “Nsafufoo,” the suspect was apprehended at Antoakrom in the Manso Nkwanta District. According to the police, he was seen in the viral footage appearing intoxicated while dressed in full police attire.
In a statement issued by the Ashanti Regional Command, the Police described the suspect’s actions as a clear breach of the law, emphasizing that the unauthorized possession and use of security uniforms is a serious offence that undermines public trust and endangers national security.
“The suspect is currently in custody and assisting with investigations,” the statement read. “We wish to caution the public that impersonation of security personnel or unlawful possession of police or military uniforms will not be tolerated under any circumstances.”
The police further assured the public of their continued commitment to maintaining law and order and encouraged citizens to report similar infractions to the nearest police station.
Investigations into how Osei Kwame obtained the uniform and whether others were involved are ongoing.
