The Greater Accra Regional Police Command has arrested 24-year-old Okada rider, Daniel Ashiagbe who is alleged to have robbed a staff of the Namibian High Commission of her handbag containing her personal belongings at Airport Residential Area on 23rd February, 2026.
The Victim, Anniel Nipungu is said to have reported the incident to the Greater Accra Regional Police Command. She narrated that while she was walking to the Namibian High Commission, the suspect who was riding a motorbike snatched her handbag which contained an iphone 15 promax valued at GH¢19,000, Huawei P-50 mobile phone valued at GH¢11,000, a Namibian Diplomatic Passport, a Namibian driver’s license, a bunch of office and house keys, an FBN gold ATM card, Republic Bank ATM card and other personal effect.
The iPhone was traced and found in the possession of a 26-year-old spare parts dealer, Miracle Asare at Agbogbloshie who was also arrested. The Huawei P-50 mobile phone was also found in the possession of Emmanuel Agbangbase, 41, at Dansoman, who mentioned that Daniel sold the phone to him.
Further investigations led to the arrest of Theophilus Darko, aged 40, and Benjamin Opoku aged 26 who are believed to be phone dealer’s at Circle and part of the chain through which the stolen phone had passed.
Daniel is said to have admitted during interrogation that he committed the crime and further admitted to selling both phones to the said individuals.
He confessed that he burnt the complainants diplomatic passport and other documents contained in the bag.
It was revealed that Daniel had been involved in similar robbery incidents in the area.
