A suspect identified as Samuel Adjei has been remanded into police custody by the District Court in connection with a fatal shooting that claimed the life of Naa Borley Ahmed during an enstoolment ceremony in Nungua, Greater Accra Region.
The tragic incident occurred on Saturday, February 22, 2025, during the installation of Naa Ahmed and her husband as queen and chief of the Ga-Adangme Muslim Union’s Nungua West branch.
According to preliminary police investigations, Adjei allegedly discharged live ammunition from a single-barrel gun, striking the victim in the right thigh.
Eyewitnesses say she was immediately rushed to the hospital but succumbed to her injuries while receiving treatment.
Following his arrest, Adjei was arraigned before the court on charges of murder and was subsequently remanded into custody. His next court appearance is scheduled for Wednesday, March 12, 2025.
While the motive behind the shooting remains unclear, the deceased’s family has raised concerns over the circumstances surrounding the incident, hinting at possible foul play.
