The Asankragwa District Court has convicted a man for assaulting a group of journalists in Adumanya, near Asankran Breman in the Western Region.

The convict, Daniel Baidoo, was found guilty on March 26, 2025, and sentenced to pay a fine of 300 penalty units, equivalent to GH₵3,600.00. If he fails to pay the fine, he will serve one year of hard labor in prison.

Baidoo was arrested on February 21, 2025, by the Western Central Regional Police Command after attacking the journalists. During his arrest, the police recovered a Panasonic Lumix camera and an iPhone, which belonged to the victims.

The case has drawn attention from the media fraternity, with calls for stronger protections for journalists in the line of duty.
