The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has announced that a Match Review Panel will review the Ghana Premier League 13 encounter between Bibiani Gold Stars and Asante Kotoko.
The Bibiani Gold Stars versus Kumasi Asante Kotoko match finished in a 1-1 draw on Monday, following a controversial penalty awarded to Gold Stars.
The controversial handball decision by referee Franklyn Akumatey got a lot of football fans talking as it denied Kototo from taking all three points.
The GFA has however indicated that “The Match Review Panel will review the betPawa Premier League Matchday 13 fixture between Bibiani Gold Stars and Asante Kotoko which was played at DUN’s Park on Monday, January 16, 2023.”
The statement added that the “independent” body’s decisions for the past seasons were made public, but a decision was made not to do so in the 2022/2023 season.
“Decisions of the Match Review Panel for the past three seasons (sanctions and commendations) in the top tier Leagues have always been published.”
“However, since the commencement of the 2022/23 season, Review Panel decisions for complaints received and suo moto reviews have not been made public but sanctions have been carried out against the match officials concerned,” the statement said
